State Aid

The Mississippi Office of Student Financial Aid (MOSFA) offers scholarships and grants based on merit and financial need to full-time (15 credit hours per semester) students attending eligible Mississippi colleges and universities. The application is available at www.mississippi.edu/financialaid or you can link to the Mississippi application after completing the FAFSA and most of your info will be prefilled. 

Applications open October 1 and should be completed by March 31 (the HELP grant deadline). For official information, eligibility requirements, and deadlines, please refer to the State Aid website: www.mississippi.edu/financialaid.

 

Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG):

Covers up to $500/year for freshman and sophomores and up to $1000/year for juniors and seniors. Eligibility criteria:

  • Has a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and a minimum of 15 on the national ACT or equivalent score on the national SAT
  • Is not full PELL Grant eligible?
  • Deadline: September 15

 

Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG)

Covers up to $2500/year, but may not exceed tuition and required fees at attending institution. Initial eligibility for the student who:

  • Achieves a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5
  • Scores a minimum of 29 on the national ACT or equivalent score on the national SAT or is a National Merit/National Achievement Finalist or Semi-Finalist
  • Deadline: September 15

 

HELP Grant (Higher Education Legislative Plan) Grant 

Covers tuition and fees for no more than 8 semesters at a public institution. Participants attending a private institution in Mississippi will receive an award amount equal to the award of a student attending the nearest comparable Mississippi public institution. More information about program eligibility here.

  • Scores a minimum of 20 on the National ACT
  • Completes a specific high school course curriculum
  • Meets income requirements

Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency is proud to announce the inaugural Walker Wilbanks Memorial Scholarship. Mr. and Mrs. David Wilbanks are awarding the scholarship in memory of their son Walker, who was an organ donor in 2014. Walker was a student athlete at Jackson Preparatory School in Flowood and loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his friends. He was also a very giving person who encouraged others to do better. The scholarship amount will be for $2265 (reflective of Walker's baseball and football numbers).

Spencer Snider, Mississippi State University Office of Admissions and Scholarships

Admissions Counselor, have put together a Webex meeting for you (South Pike High students) on Thursday, October 1st from 6:00pm-7:00pm. He will have a rep from all of our academic colleges logged in to present about their department in under 10 minutes. This is the 4th event like this that he has done, and they are usually over in 45 minutes. This is a great way for you and your parents to learn a bit about MSU and what their departments have to offer.

Fall Fridays: We are excited to announce Fall Fridays at Mississippi State! Fall Fridays are face-to-face experiences highlighting different aspects of campus life including academics, student involvement, financial aid, scholarships, admission and much more! There is a $10 fee to attend these events. Each registered student is allowed two guests if they would like.

Campus Visit: Students learn about MSU with an Admissions Counselor and tour campus with a Roadrunner, a current MSU student. Departmental meetings can be pre-arranged to tailor their experience. For campus visits, each registered student is also allowed two guests.

Virtual Visit: We also have virtual information sessions similar to what students would experience during a campus visit. They will learn about MSU from an admissions counselor or a representative from their academic college.
