When you think of a great educator and the characteristics he/she should embody certain things come to mind. Things such as their fundamental commitment to the academic, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing of children are at the forefront of his/her mindset. How he/she enjoys helping others and sharing what they know, not only with students but with colleagues near and far. They have a commitment to always be willing to continue to develop as a person and educator.
Mrs. Melanie Montalvo exemplifies all these characteristics and many more. She shows her students so much love and compassion each and every day. During this present school year and especially during the month of January, Mrs. Montalvo has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help her students, parents and supporting staff members here at South Pike High School. Mrs. Montalvo works consistently to help prepare her students with the keys they will need for the adversities they may face in their everyday lives. Dealing with COVID - 19 has made this a hard, but also a very rewarding year. Mrs. Montalvo has made sure her students are very aware of what is going on in the world today.
Mrs. Montalvo has a passion for teaching and a motherly embrace for her students, whom she cares for as if they were her own. It is with great pleasure that we recognize our Golden Apple recipient for the month of January 2021.
