Asst Principal's Message

Montrell Moore, Asst Principal

I consider it a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to serve the students, teachers, and families as the Assistant Principal of South Pike High School. I have been an educator and coach for the past 17 years where I have had the pleasure of leading children from various walks of life. I am sure that my experience with the diverse demographics in which I have served will be beneficial to our school district. In the midst of all the uncertainty that we are facing as a nation and as a school district, it will be my duty and responsibility to help lead our students into ushering a new norm. I know that with collaborative planning, patience, and determination, we will reach our destination in the end!

I am a proud graduate of Alcorn State Univeristy where I received my B.A. in English Literature. I am also a graduate of Mississippi College, where I received a Masters degree and Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. My educational career began at Bonita Lakes Alternative School in Meridian, MS, where I assisted with the Athletic Department of Lauderdale County Schools. After the alternative school closed, I transitioned to Southeast Lauderdale High School as an English and Theatre/Oral Communications teacher as well as an assistant football and basketball coach. My journey led me to several school districts were I served as a head coach in baseball and basketball and promotion to Offensive Coordinator for high school football all while teaching core subjects in English. I have served as lead teacher and Star Academy liaison for a 9th grade academy in Meridian Public School District. Prior to this prestigious assignment at South Pike High School, I was promoted to Alternative School Director in Quitman School District.

My wife and I are lifelong learners and advocates for public education, as all of our children have attended public school and have been well prepared for future success. At SPHS, children are our priority, and we are committed to keeping them safe as well as preparing them for success. I will help to foster a sense of camaraderie amongst all stakeholders to give every student the opportunity to become their very best selves. I thoroughly enjoy seeing our students in the classroom, on the stage, on the court, and on the field, as I am inspired by their work ethic and abilities. It is my hope that all will share in our excitement about developing the whole child, one that loves learning and is excited about his/her life goals. As an Eagle Nation parent, guardian, or stakeholder, you are a partner in our children’s education. We encourage your participation in the numerous activities and events occurring throughout the year. Additionally, we want you to feel connected to SPHS and welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how we can improve our school together.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact me by phone at 601-783-0420 or by email at [email protected].I am looking forward to a great year where Eagle Nation will “Soar Above!”
