Ms. Terri Smith goes above and beyond to not only teach her students, but to also help improve their lives and way of thinking. As a 2002 graduate of South Pike High School, she is committed to giving back to her school, scholars and community by empowering all them to be the best version of themselves. She is constantly looking for different ways to engage her scholars in the study of Biology and Physical Science. Not only is she a wealth of knowledge to all scholars who pass through these halls, she is also an invaluable asset to her fellow teachers. Ms. Smith is always willing to step in and help her co-workers with whatever is needed. Because of this willingness and can do attitude, Ms. Smith was awarded the position of Science Department Chair.
 
As the Beta Club sponsor, Ms. Smith motivates and challenges her scholars to be exceptional. From talks about college and career choices to helping them understand a task to just being a person they can talk to, they all look up to Ms. Smith. Her passion for all things teaching is shown in her daily interactions with all scholars on campus.  
 
Ms. Smith was selected as the 2019 - 2020 Teacher of the Year for South Pike High School, she is currently serving at the BETA Club sponsor, National Honors Society co-sponsor and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC. She is a 2007 graduate of Alcorn State University and a 2013 graduate of Jackson State University.
