South Pike High Students Make History in Inaugural Level Up Summer Internship

This summer, two of our very own South Pike High School students, Tyler Bateaste and Tyrone Varnado Jr., made history as two of the first participants in the brand-new Level Up Summer Internship Program.

Representing South Pike with pride, Tyler and Tyrone stepped into this pilot program ready to work, eager to learn, and determined to grow. They spent their summer building skills that will last a lifetime, diving into:

Financial Literacy – Understanding how to manage, save, and grow their money.

Representation – Learning how to walk into any space with confidence and professionalism.

Entrepreneurship – Thinking like innovators and problem-solvers.

Career Development – Gaining tools, experiences, and connections for the future.

The internship was made possible through Finding Your Way Out of Poverty (FYWOOP) and community partners, including McComb Diesel, who provided hands-on experience and mentorship. But it was Tyler and Tyrone’s dedication, work ethic, and leadership that made this first summer such a success.

They have set the standard for future South Pike students who will follow in their footsteps. We couldn’t be prouder of the example they’ve set, the skills they’ve gained, and the way they’ve represented our school and community.
