🦅🦅 South Pike Alumni of the Week🦅🦅

Markesha Cook is a Magnolia, Mississippi, native and the valedictorian of the 2003 South Pike High graduating class. Cook would go on to complete her undergraduate degree and training at Vanderbilt University where she majored in biomedical engineering. She was awarded the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and was a PGY-1 community resident at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy's Jackson,MS campus. Cook has furthered her education and career now position as a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Resident at the University of Mississippi School.

His background knowledge of engineering contributes to his ability to captivate the minds of his students through technology

Coach Luther McCray is a great teacher. Most people may define a great teacher by his or her performance to execute academic instruction effectively; however, it is so much more than academics. A great teacher also encourages and motivates their students in becoming productive individuals. His passion for the success of the students is immeasurable.

Because of Coach Luther McCray's hard work and dedication, he was awarded the title of Mathematics Department Chair. He is very helpful and encourcouraging to all members of his department, especially first year teachers. A quote written by one of the new teachers, "I appreciate Coach McCray for helping me through my first year. From helping me with technical difficulties, curriculum and just good ol' encouragement, he does it all."
